5/9/2023 0 Comments Phoenix viewer meshI had to use the snipping tool in Windows 7 (screenshot) to be able to shoot that image with shadows. I am not able to take a snapshot because it does not recognize the shadows. However since I have my clothing on, my shadow has disappeared from the areas where I am covered with clothes. If I remove all of my clothing, then my shadow shows up perfectly behind me. I used my windlight setting for sl shadows for that snapshot above. Finally go back to “RenderDeffered” and now set that to trueĪs soon as you do that you will see that shadows will be enabled.Then search for “RenderUseFBO” and set that to true.Search for “RenderDeffered” and make sure it is set to false.In the Advanced menu, select “debug settings”.Press ctrl+alt+d simultaneously to enable the Advanced menu.(Please also check the comments below for more helpful hints about turning shadows on in Phoenix and Imprudence, from esteemed members of the SL community) Here are the steps to turn the shadows on in Phoenix, Imprudence and Emergence Viewers. Please see how to enable shadows in these viewers below. With viewers that are not running the 2.0 platform (such as Phoenix, Imprudence & Emergence), you may be able to turn on shadows, but it is very difficult to take snapshots in these viewers.View my tutorial on how to turn on shadows in viewer 2.1. The new Second Life Beta 2.2 viewer has corrected a lot of the glitches that were a problem in the old 2.1 viewer (such as the need to use prim eyes).For more information check out my Kirstens Viewer shadow tutorial. The majority of people have told me that Kirstens Viewer is possibly the best viewer to use to run shadows.If you have an ATI card and are able to run shadows easily, please leave a comment here and share some tricks and tips if you can. Some of the older ATI cards might be better at running shadows then the newer ones. If you have an ATI card, make sure to enable “hardware skinning” and that might help with running shadows.If you have a Mac and are able to run shadows, please leave a comment here and let us know how. Running shadows using a Mac Computer is difficult and almost next to impossible.Here’s a short summary of the information I have gathered after speaking to many people inworld and on plurk. The answers in this plurk might be able to help you out with some of the questions you may have. So this morning I asked some of my plurky friends what they are running and if they can get shadows. Since I did the tutorials on running shadows with viewer 2.1 and also Kirstens Viewer I have gotten a multitude of requests for more tutorials about running shadows in a few other viewers along with many other questions pertaining to shadows.
